Stock Scallywags LLC ("we," "us," or "the Company") operates The Stock
Scallywag Scanner (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the
Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name (if provided) and email
address when you create an account.
- Billing information: subscription status and customer
identifiers. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full
card number.
- Brokerage data: if you connect a brokerage account
through our third-party provider (SnapTrade), we receive read-only
information such as your linked account identifiers, stock and ETF
holdings, and option positions to power scanner and portfolio features.
We never receive or store your brokerage login credentials, and the
connection cannot place, modify, or cancel trades.
- Usage data: watchlists you create, scans you run,
signals and features you view, and session activity (such as pages
visited and actions taken) that we log to operate the Service and
understand how it is used, plus basic technical logs (such as IP address
and timestamps) used to operate and secure the Service — including
protecting sign-in against automated attacks.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process subscriptions and send service-related emails — for
example, email verification, password resets, confirmations and security
notices when your login email changes, one-time reminders to complete
your profile, and billing notices.
- To generate aggregated, anonymized statistics about Service usage.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service
providers that help us run the Service, including:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- SnapTrade — brokerage account connectivity.
- Email and infrastructure providers — to deliver
transactional email and host the Service.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our
rights, users, or the public.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as
needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You may request
deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Contact below).
5. Security
We take concrete technical measures to protect your information:
- Passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes —
never in plain text — so not even we can read them.
- Data in transit between your browser and the Service
is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
- Sessions use hardened cookies that are inaccessible
to page scripts and protected against cross-site request abuse.
- Sign-in is protected by rate limiting and temporary
lockouts against repeated failed attempts (with CAPTCHA challenges where
enabled), and changing your login email triggers a security notice to
your previous address.
- Card details are handled entirely by Stripe, a
PCI-compliant payment processor — your full card number never touches our
servers.
- Brokerage credentials are handled entirely by
SnapTrade — we never see or store your brokerage username or password,
and our access is strictly read-only.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot
guarantee absolute security, but we design the Service so that the most
sensitive information (your card details and brokerage credentials) is never
in our hands to begin with.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update your account details, disconnect a linked brokerage, or
request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us. Depending on
where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not
knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the
"Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes may be communicated
by email or in-app notice.
